Welcome to our home! I get a lot of questions about this space when I post it on Instagram, so today I thought I’d share some details.
Our family room is the heart of our home. I wanted this space to be beautiful as well as functional. The focal point in the space is our fireplace/builtins. I chose to paint the builtins charcoal (Benjamin Moore, Kendall) because we have a lot of white cabinetry throughout our home. The color pallet is done in soothing, neutral grays and tans. The darker colors on the sectional and ottoman help hide any dirt or wear and tear from my kids (ok mainly our six yr old) I love using neutrals as my base so I can switch out accent colors throughout the yr.
Eventually I’ll be adding accent chairs opposite the windows (priorities) for now we’ll enjoy the spaciousness 😉 the sectional is from a local furniture store, the ottoman is available at Down East Home, fiddle fig tree is a Homegoods find, the rug is from Hautelook, the chandelier was an overstock find but Restoration Hardware has a similar one, drapes are custom made by my talented mother in-law, she made the gray geometric pillows as well. One of my favorite items to style shelves are old books, I just stack them with the binding facing backwards! The storage boxes are from ikea.
A few close ups of the ottoman…
The tray, jug and hand sculpture are from DownEast Home, I love the whimsy the hand adds. I found the GEOD rock at Tj Maxx, it reminded me of one my dad had when I was little. Glass cloches are perfect to display your treasures, this one was a target find. Be on the lookout at thrift stores for vintage books, they’re the perfect inexpensive addition to your displays.
Thanks for stopping by, I have many upcoming projects to share with you. I can’t wait to share the dream home I’ve spent the last two yrs working on!
Xoxo
