The time is finally here to reveal my Master Bedroom update! If you are new to the blog, you can find a before photo HERE. I’m so excited to share the final product with you today and tips on how I saved money while creating this space!
The bed is truly the show stopper in this space, isn’t it beautiful?! When we built our home almost two yrs ago, I really wanted an upholstered bed. My husband didn’t see any reason why we needed to change our room when we had a perfectly good bed (can any of you relate?) I struggled to design the space around our heavy, dark bed, knowing the vision I had in my head was alot different. In the mean time, I posted a photo of my room on Instagram and it was somehow picked up by Kate of The_real_houses_of_instagram and it was extremely popular (even breaking her record likes at one point) I have to admit, the popularity of my room made me second guess getting an upholstered bed. I mean, who doesn’t have one anymore? Maybe I needed to be different. Nah, my heart was still set.
I’m so happy I had to wait because Bernhardt came out with the Marquesa bed and it’s the bed of my dreams! I worked with Thomasville of Utah to order my bed, they have been wonderful to work with on all of my projects.
The bed was my “splurge” in the space, so I searched for budget friendly items to accessorize the room. The marquesa nightstands are stunning, I would have loved to order them with my bed alas, my budget didn’t allow me to have them at this time.
I looked for a less expensive option and found this nightstand at At Home, the quality and style are definitely not what it would be with a Bernhardt piece, but it still compliments the bed nicely. I added crystal knobs and it helped to bring the piece up a notch.
You can find similar options in the slider below
I found the rug HERE, you can also find more affordable rugs in my ten Fabulous and affordable rugs HERE.
The Art from Minted in gray and blush hues is such a calming statement piece that’s perfect for the space. I love minted art, I have ordered from them for several projects and the never disappoint! You can find the art HERE
The benches are also an At Home find, the scale was not quite right to use one for my king bed so I used two. This was probably one of my most exciting finds due to the fact that similar designer benches run between $1,500 to $2,000 the benches I found were only $129 each score! You can find similar benches HERE and HERE, or if you’d rather have designer pieces, you can find some HERE, HERE, and HERE.
I still have a few more projects planned, we are planning on adding sliding doors to our bathroom entrance.
and I’m on the lookout for art to hang on either side of our fireplace
But I couldn’t be happier with how it has turned out so far! You can find more photos, and product links below. If you’d like to keep up on upcoming projects, sign up for my newsletter in the sidebar.
Thanks for reading!

Did you order the bed as sampled on their website? The wood looks a bit more tan than grey in these pics.

Ann Marie, sorry if I give you double responses I tried once already but I don’t think it posted. Yes I ordered as it’s shown on the site. I held off ordering anything else for the room until I saw it in person. I was thrilled when it came, it’s more beautiful in person! The wood is a gray stained wood so it’s not fully gray but has gray tones.

Hi!
I am so in love with your new bed, I am very interested in ordering it myself. I’ve never heard of the company that makes the bed. Is the quality good for the price? I am nervous to splurge on a piece I’ve never felt in person. Also, do you think the fabric will stain easily? I have three young kids and am wondering how long it would last me before it gets dirty! Please let me know, thank you

Hello Jen,
Once again I love your bedroom. I’m remodeling mine now and just got my furniture, Pulaski furniture Arabella tufted bed in pecky pecan veneer color and I have no idea what paint color I should pick for my walls? I want it to be light, I know it’s hard without seeing it but would you be able to recommend some colors to me?
Thank you bunch,
Marta

Where did you purchase your bedding?
[email protected] says
Hi Kristina, Some of it is from Pottery Barn, a few of the pillows are custom. There are direct links at the very bottom of this post in the slider of the items that are available online 🙂
Christina says
Hi Jen. Is your bedding the grey or blue color from pottery barn Lucianna selection? It looks like the blue in your photo but your link is the grey option. Thanks!
[email protected] says
Sorry I missed your comment until now! It is the gray, sometimes the colors change a little when editing photos.
Christina says
Are your drapes custom? I’m looking for fabric with a pattern that will match your rug / bedding. Would love your input. Thanks.
Christine says
This room is stunning! 🙂 It is defining my leading inspiration now that I have finally convinced hubby of a master bedroom re-do! could you please advise on the height of your ceilings? I love the coiffered detail and am trying to get a feel for how much room we have to play with.

Thank you Christine! our ceilings on the outside edges of the coffers are 9′ tall.

Do you have info for this carpet ??
Marisa Tompkins says
So pretty. Would you by chance remember where the curtains are from?
[email protected] says
Hi Marisa, I actually made the curtains. The fabric was purchased at Joanns, they still carried it last time I was there.
Marisa Tompkins says
Hey! Do you remember where your bedroom curtains are from?
[email protected] says
Hi Marisa, I purchased the fabric at Joannes and made them myself. Last time I was there they still had that fabric 🙂

I love this bed and am looking at a matching dresser but would prefer not to do the Marquesa one, I am really looking at an alternative.
Do you think that champagne color or silver would go best?
Taylor says
Hi. I am in LOVE with your old style bedroom. I clicked on the link and the new one is still gorgeous.. But I was wondering if I could get the details of your old one? Bedding, bed set, paint color?? Please and thank you!
