We’re just coming back from a long weekend at the lake for the Holiday. We had such a great time with the kids! They are getting older and it’s hard to have quality family time. Our oldest son couldn’t make it but the rest of us went to a concert in a park, watched the fireworks, went out to lunch and tried out our new paddle boards at the lake. It felt amazing to be out and about but I’m still grateful that we have a place to escape to that’s quiet. I’m still working on adding touches to the lake house, I feel like the family room is pretty much done for the most part, which leads me to the subject of todays post. My Serena and Lily Mattituck armchair review. If you’ve followed me for a while, you may remember that I got this armchair and put it in our guest room a few years ago. *This post is sponsored by Serena and Lily, all opinions are my own.
When we finished the lake house I was looking for accent chairs, I realized I already had the perfect fit for the space! The Mattituck armchair has the coastal, casual vibe I was looking for.
I love to invest in pieces that are versatile. The Mattituck armchair is a statement piece that works anywhere in my home. Here it’s pictured in our guest room in our main home. It created such an inviting little corner in that bedroom. I really worried I’d regret borrowing the chair for another space. With everything that went on in 2020, our guest room wasn’t seeing a lot of traffic. The Mattituck armchair is much too beautiful to sit in the corner of an unused bedroom. We brought it up to the lake and it feels like it was made for this house!
I played with the idea of putting the Mattituck armchair in our master bedroom but in the end I left it in the family room. It’s a showstopper, I love the brass details mixed with rattan, it’s casual but elegant. I also love that it’s light enough that it can easily be moved. My boys like to position it next to the sofa when we are watching movies. It’s surprisingly comfortable.
I have to admit, I was a bit worried about how well the Mattituck armchair would hold up in the main family room where it would see a lot more use. More than once my heart was in my throat as my boys threw themselves into the chair. I had visions of them falling right through the rattan! It is really sturdy and has held up well to my teen and preteen abuse. It’s important to me to create a home that is beautiful but functional as well, I don’t want people to feel like they can’t sit down. After all we don’t live in a museum, and it’s definitely not a model home. We have dogs and kids, both of which add to wear and tear. The quality of materials used is what draws me to Serena and lily. I’ve had other rattan furniture that hasn’t held up as well as the the Mattituck armchair.
I am just as pleased with my purchase as I was a few years ago, if not more so now because we’ve been able to use it so much more. I’m definitely considering adding one or two more Mattituck armchairs to my home, especially since I can customize the fabric to switch up the look.
Our family room in our second home is on the smaller side so each item needs to have purpose and be well placed and well thought out. Right now this chair is the best spot to sit and look at the lake but it is easily positioned to watch tv as well.
The next project I am going to be tackling will be wallpaper in the half bath. I added this Palm Wallpaper to my cart over the weekend and it has already shipped! I love using a large or bold print in small spaces, half baths are the perfect place to add some interest and drama. I went with a lighter print, due to the lack of light in the space, but I think the large print will add interest. I can’t wait to share it when I’m done!
Here are a few of the other items I’ve been eyeing. I almost ordered the Atelier nightstand to my cart, I haven’t quite decided if I want the single or the double size though. Also, I noticed the Mallorca beach towels I shared here are on sale. We have LOVED them!! Now is the time to grab any outdoor items you’ve been wanting because they are on sale for 25% off!
