I love, love the beach, we live no where near the ocean so I settle for driving up to my favorite lake in the mountains. I really would love to live right next to the water and be able to listen to the waves all day, alas I’m destined to be land locked. One way I can still enjoy my favorite destinations is to bring a little Coastal or Lakeside inspired decor into my home. I’ve partnered with Walmart to bring you some ideas on How to Create a Neutral Lakeside inspired room with subtle coastal accents. *This post is sponsored by Walmart, all opinions and product choices are my own.
When designing a bedroom I seek to create a space that is soothing, a space to relax and wind down. Neutral tones and textures are a great way to achieve the desired feel. One of the many reasons I love Cottage lakeside style, or Coastal style is because of the light and airy feel they create.
I achieved a Lakeside feel in our guest room makeover by using soothing blue and white tones accented by the textures found in wicker and rattan. You can lend a coastal feel to a space without going overboard with a “theme”. I try to avoid using too many “Beachy accents” such as everything anchors and seashells. It’s ok to use a few, but I believe a few well placed accents paired with the right textures and tones is the right way to achieve the desired feel.
This Chambray Comforter set from Walmart is a recent addition, the pale blue tones were perfect for the room, but I’m also a sucker for more texture and I love the soft patterned lines in this set!
In the corner I added the Fringed Denim Pillow, can you believe this pillow was only $12?? Another great buy was this Jute Storage Basket for only $35, it adds the texture I was looking for and it also functions as storage for extra pillows and blankets for our guests. I was blown away at how many items I found that are stylish and have great value at such low prices! I also took advantage of the free 2 day shipping (available on most items) for orders over $35. I was proud of how far I was able to stretch my money.
I looked for a while for the perfect bedside tables. These 2 Drawer nightstands are not only beautiful but the quality is amazing for the price. Another way to add a subtle Lakeside feel is through Art, Walmart has some great options for Coastal themed art. I love the “Walk on the Beach” canvas art, it would be beautiful paired with the “Blue and White Coral Coastal set”.
You can find everything you need to create a beautiful Lakeside retreat in the collage at the beginning of the post and the best part is all of the items are budget friendly! What was your favorite item? Don’t forget to pin your favorite images! I’m off for a drive up to the Lake today, I hope you have a great weekend!

Love the wood color on the floors and cabinet. Mind me asking which floor brand and color you went with for flors and cabinet? And which counter top?
Thanks!
