I’m back with an update on week three of the One Room Challenge! If you missed weeks One and Two you can get caught up and see the before photos as well as the design plan. I’ve found that week 3 can be one of the harder weeks to share. There isn’t usually enough progress to share any visually appealing photos as the room is still under construction. Today I am excited to share some progress with you and show you the flooring we chose for the space!
My daughters room is in our basement, we have a walkout basement, meaning our property drops significantly from the front to the back. While we’ve never had any issues with water and we don’t expect to, I don’t want to take a chance of using hardwood or laminate flooring down there. My daughter has been begging for hardwood floors for quite some time, so began my search for an alternative to use. I came across Luxury Vinyl floors in my search for flooring that is waterproof, and wears well. I thought to myself, no way am I putting vinyl floors in my home! I am a Real Estate agent and I know that vinyl flooring is on the bottom of the list as far as flooring goes when a home is appraised. I wanted more information on Luxury vinyl, so I called my friend and owner of my local flooring store (RnR Carpet Center) she told me I would be pleasantly surprised with the look, endurance and price, so we decided to give it a try!
I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the results! If you are looking for something that is durable and easy to install I would definitely recommend Luxury Vinyl floors you can find them HERE. I love that they have some texture and come in long planks like hardwood, I don’t think anyone will be able to tell that they aren’t actually hardwood floors unless they get a much closer look.

The only thing we will have to do now that we replaced her flooring is add a trim piece to the baseboards. The baseboards were installed for carpeted flooring and the Luxury vinyl is much thinner. We decided that rather than pulling the baseboards off and risk damaging both the wall and baseboards, that it would be easier to add a trim piece.
In last weeks post I shared two different design boards that I created for my daughter to help her visualize what she wanted her space to look like. I really thought she would go for the Modern industrial Boho look, but she chose the Glam Boho ?!

We received these STUNNING lights from Lamps Plus this week and I can’t WAIT to see them installed! You can find the chandelier HERE and the sconces HERE. Next week we will have the lighting installed and start putting furnishings in the space, the art from Christie Adelle will be here soon as well. I still need to order the bedding, rug, and gather accessories, I think compared to last year I am in good shape for week three! Be sure to check back next week for updates on the space! You can follow my fellow bloggers who have joined the challenge HERE.
I’d like to thank my sponsors for this post

Do you prefer vinyl over laminate flooring? which one is more reliable and easy to clean?

The vinyl flooring is looking great. Yes it is true, hardwood flooring is not a good choice for basement. Because wood will be affected by the dampness of the ground. I did this mistake and the hardwood floor got damaged. Now I am again installing hardwood flooring over the concrete subfloor. Actually I love the elegant look of the real wood too much.

I have got information on the vinyl flooring for your article. Vinyl flooring is a modern type of flooring and I have read about its advantages. I have installed hardwood flooring for my bedroom. Hardwood flooring (https://workmanflooring.com/) is the good one but its installation process is costly one. I am interested in the vinyl plank and after reading this I have decided to install it for my dining.
