I am so excited to share this post with you today! I’m joining a lovely group of ladies to share our homes all decked out for the Holidays! We finished our Lake House a few months ago after many many months of literal blood, sweat, and tears and I’m sharing it for the first time today. I look forward to visiting every weekend and now that Christmas is up I may never come home! Come, join me for a tour of our Scandinavian Christmas at our Lake house in the Mountains!
The day after Thanksgiving I loaded our dogs up and made the two hour drive through the mountains to finish decorating so I could photograph the house. It was the perfect way to unwind from the Holiday rush. My husband came up the next day to finish our custom stone fireplace mantle. He has worked so hard on our home and he’s done such an amazing job on everything. I’m so grateful for his sacrifices! I think I’ll give him a break for a while before we start another project. 😉
My Modern Cottage Christmas Vision
I wanted to keep our Christmas decor simple. Our home is small but cozy. I’ve always loved Scandinavian Christmas decor, it is completely different from my usual style but I love it and it’s the perfect vibe for this home! To keep things flowing for the tour I’ll link lighting and furniture resources at the bottom of the post for those interested.
Modern Cottage Entry Refresh and Scandinavian Christmas Decor
I recently painted this wall in the entry black and I love it! Our home has plenty of natural light and this accent wall was just what we needed. I loved these sketches of winter branches, I framed them and used Velcro command strips to hang them to make it easier to switch them out later. *tip- command strips and hooks are a lifesaver for me, not only during the holidays but year-round! I change my decor often, these save us from constantly patching holes.
If I were a better photographer you would be able to see the lake through these windows. I found an older iPhone photo that shows the views of our beautiful lake. We designed our home to be able to enjoy our views from every angle, the natural light is just an added bonus! They say this lake has “moods” depending on what the weather is like.
On a perfect day the lake is the aqua color you see below. If it’s cloudy its a dark moody gray. It gives me something to look forward to each weekend, I love coming out of the canyon to see what mood the lake is that day!
Wintery Yet Simple Christmas Dining
We have the cutest little family of deer that live in the open space around us. I found these darling plates at Hobby Lobby that incorporate them into our wintery theme!
My husband requested a round dining table so our family could sit around and play games. I am so glad he did, I hadn’t planned on a round table and now I can’t imagine it any other way!
Our gentle giant is never more than a few feet away from me he managed to make it into over half the photos. Good thing he’s so handsome!
Festive Cottage Christmas Kitchen Touches
A simple but beautiful wreath adds a festive touch to the kitchen. I just set it aside when I’m cooking. We only recently hooked our stove to the propane so it’s not quite broken in yet. I designed the entire kitchen around this stove and it took me a year to convince Mr. Robison that we needed it.
It ended up being quite the ordeal to get it delivered and up to the house undamaged (that’s a story for another time). It was well worth the 9 month wait to get it and have it working! I LOVE it and wish I had one at home, I would probably cook more! It has a built-in rotisserie that we tried for the first time a few days ago, AMAZING!
Faux cedar greens and little black galvanized houses add the perfect amount of Christmas cheer to our kitchen! I had so much fun hunting for vintage paintings for my kitchen. I wanted this home to feel like a modern cottage. I have a few more things to do down the road in this kitchen to finish it off but I am loving the cozy vibe!
Family Room
Jumping over to the family room we have sleepy, lazy dog again and more tiny black galvanized houses make an appearance in here on the tree. I started out with only clip candles on the tree, it was so beautiful and simple. Then I found the small galvanized church house ornaments along with some deer ornaments at Walmart and they were too perfect.
Timeless Christmas Tree Ornaments
The clear globe ornaments are from last year and the mercury glass pinecones are a staple. They make an appearance in my Christmas decor every year. You can view the Christmas tour of my home from last year HERE.
Scandinavian Christmas Mantel
I kept the mantle super simple as well, more faux cedar and some pom pom garlands accentuate the stone fireplace mantle. I love the moss green velvet stockings I found at House of Jade home, they had so many gorgeous Holiday decorations! Christmas decor is definitely my weakness! Can you spot which paintings are vintage and which ones are inexpensive downloads from Etsy?? Even in person one of my sweet designer friends couldn’t spot the difference! (art link at bottom of post)
This small space is even cozier in the evenings! The glow from the Christmas tree and the Art lights is all I need to relax. Boomer is waiting for me to come cuddle with him so he can go back to sleep!
Simple Christmas Bathroom
Last but not least, some simple Christmassy details in our bathrooms.
These sconces remind me of the Northern Star! I hung another simple cedar wreath from the robe hook and added a few mini trees and this guest bath is one of my favorites! I set out for a simple Scandinavian Christmas at our Lake house and found that this look takes a LOT of wintery greens. After Christmas I’ll pare it down a bit but leave some of the greenery out during the coming winter months.
Thank you so much for taking the time to tour my little lake home today! I have to give a huge shout out to my friend Tana from Your Marketing BFF for setting up this tour today! You can find a full list of sources at the bottom of this post.
