One of my favorite things about my kitchen is the windows, I actually designed this house around the bank of windows to take full advantage of our views. I love my windows! Did I already mention that? 😉 Let’s get into the details of my kitchen window sconces, DIY Roman shades, and more in my favorite space.
However, as much as I have loved them, I’ve had plans for the corner that I haven’t been able to complete until now. I’m so excited to say that with the help of Mendee at Lighting Design and a little DIY on my part, my favorite corner in my home is complete!
Extreme Sun Exposure in My Kitchen Windows
I tried going without window treatments on these windows, I really wanted to let as much natural light stream in as possible. However, when summer rolls around and you have to put on sunglasses to make dinner in the evening (it’s true, my Snapchat friends have seen it ;D ).
The Fix? DIY Roman Shades under $100
Something had to be done, so I turned to a DIY video by my friend Jennifer Stagg, on making DIY Roman shades using blinds. She makes everything so simple! I am not a huge DIY’er but I knew this was a project I could tackle and save some serious $$. If you’re in need of window treatments and you want a custom look, but you don’t want to spend the money. Her video is worth checking out, you can find it HERE. My entire project was under $100.
Kitchen Window Sconces – My Favorite Addition!
Now on to my favorite addition, the kitchen window sconces!! I had had my eye on these Hudson Valley sconces to put above my windows for quite some time. However, the hefty price tag, the fact that I needed three of them, and also the fact that I didn’t need more light refrained me from purchasing them.  Â
In comes my friend from Lighting Design. I text her a photo of the sconces that were much more of a want than a need. Within minutes she sent me a link with the exact look I was after and they were a fraction of the cost!
Aren’t they Perfect?! You can find the same sconces HERE and below. I love that the sconces finish up my corner and accentuate the windows. This sconce is from Savoy House. It is a single light adjustable sconce with a plug.
I LOVE how timeless the polished nickel finish is. There are other finishes available for this sconce so no matter what style you are going for, these kitchen window sconces can fit into your space.

Beautiful kitchen! I must know where you got that cool paper towel holder. Also, what color are your barstools? Thank you!

Hi Shari, thank you! I have had the paper towel holder for so many yrs now that I can no longer remember where I purchased it. The bar stools are a light tan/gray linen.
