We recently visited one of my favorite places on earth (within driving distance)! I mentioned our love of Bear Lake Ut/Id in a recent post, and our dream of having a second home there.
This is the first peek of the lake as you come out of the canyon. Bear Lake sits at an elevation of 5,924 ft and with 109 sq miles it straddles the Ut and Idaho borders. The turquoise waters and cool mountain air create the perfect setting to retreat to during the hot summer days!
After talking about building a second home for the past 20 yrs, our dream is one step closer to being a reality! We spent a few days at the home of a friend of ours and playing at the lake,
we also spent some time exploring the quaint towns surrounding the lake.
We knew before we left that we wanted to find a place of our own! I did a quick search on the MLS and found some great land listings. We found one in particular that we are in love with! We’re not in a rush so we haven’t made a move on it yet, but that isn’t stopping me from creating an inspiration board on Pinterest for our Lake House!
The lots we are looking at are all hillside lots to take advantage of the views, I already found some plans that are close to what we have in mind.
I love this one by The house designers.
I know it’s premature, but I can’t help but envision ourselves relaxing on a deck like this! My mind is also racing with possibilities for the interior as well! You can’t have a vacation home without plenty of extra space for guests, like this bunk room pictured below!

I’m not sure how long it’ll be before we set things into motion, there are a lot of details to work out. I’ll be in heaven working on this when the time is right (even if it’s not for a few yrs)! Until then, I’ll be collecting inspiration to add to my board so keep checking back! For the time being, I’ll be over here pinning away and shopping the Nordstrom sale while trying to stay cool in this heat wave. Dreaming of cooler days ahead!
A lot of my favorites went fast during the first few days of the sale but there are still plenty of amazing finds at great prices! I’m sharing some of my new favorites below, I can’t believe I missed some of these before! There are some great options for outerwear. Although it’s hard to think about right now, I know I will regret passing these up when the cool temps arrive. There are also some great sheath dresses! Shoes, shoes shoes! I can never have too many!
