Welcome to week 3 of my One room challenge if you are just joining me you can see week 1 HERE and you can read about week 2 HERE. I stated before that I would be sharing the good the bad and the ugly during this challenge. It appears that week 3 will be reserved for the bad and the ugly!
I feel like I haven’t made much progress this week. I was hoping to get started on my built-ins by now as they’re the biggest project for me in this challenge. My brother won’t be able to help me after all so that has added a bit of stress. Although I’m married to a contractor, these types of projects aren’t his cup of tea, plus it’s also his busiest time of yr so he’s working long hrs six days a week. For the sake of our marriage I’m looking for another contractor that can step in and help us me out 😉
The rug I had chosen came yesterday. (Please excuse the poor photo quality)
It’s very…. Blue. It’s actually a nice rug, I was apprehensive due to the low cost. I’m not sure it’s quite the colors I was expecting. The photo online showed what I thought would be a silvery blue with a bit of gray. It’s not bad, just creamier than I was hoping for. I think it’s a great rug for the price, you can find the link HERE.
I was a little worried that this might happen so I ordered a backup rug that will be delivered today along with my side chairs. More to come on that next week I guess!
So that was the bad. Now on to the ugly.
One of the reasons I am doing this challenge is to turn this into a family space that we gather in, but not lounge in, eat, play playstation and completely trash. Which is what my boys currently do. I am so tired of picking pillows up off the floor, and socks, and blankets, and food wrappers, and backpacks.. I could go on and on. I don’t want to kick my family out of this space, I just want them to use the family room in the basement and be pigs down there 😉
Seriously though, THIS is what I find when I move my sofa
How do you insert a bunch of angry emoji’s here?? I can’t believe I’m even posting this! Keeping it REAL folks!
PLEASE tell me it’s not just my kids that are so messy!!! (Actually I’m 99 percent sure my 7 yr old is the culprit.) There you have it. This isn’t a model home, we live in our house, and we are far from perfect! I know some day waaaay to soon that I will have a quiet house with no toys to step on, or fishy crackers in my cushions. I remind myself as my youngest is playing in here, that I won’t always hear the truck noises he makes, and he won’t be asking where I put all of his “guys”. I cherish these moments.
But I also want some of it to be moved to the basement.
Just incase you want to know where to find the fabulous crumb covered rug shown above, the link can be viewed HERE.
Moving on to something more positive, I am ordering these fabulous Pulls for my built-ins
I still have to make a decision on sconces. I am waiting to see if I’ll be able to have them wired, or if I’ll have to go with a plug in option.
On the bright side, I am only 2 weeks away from starting my Christmas decorating! I will be doing our Real Estate offices before I can tackle my home, but I’ve already started gathering a few new things for my family room! This space will be quite a bit different this yr and I can’t wait!
It’s been so much fun during this challenge to follow all of the amazing bloggers who are a part of the official challenge (you can follow along HERE), and also the many guest bloggers who have decided to join in on the fun (you can follow all of us HERE). I can’t wait to see how far along the others are in their designs!
Be sure to check back every week for progress!

So glad it’s not just me! They know they aren’t supposed to eat in there so I’m guessing that’s where the wrappers go when they hear me coming 😉

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! I am so glad that it’s not just my boys that hide evidence behind, underneath and inside my couches and rug! Can’t wait to see your big reveal!

I think it must be in their wiring to push our buttons right?? Lol! I hope my reveal turns out as I envisioned it! 🙂

Where is that coffee table from? The tufted grey top and wooden base. I’ve been looking forever for this style.

My kids are older (college age) and I have found beer cans under a piece of furniture! Made me CRAZY.

Oh my word…that is so my kids! My 8 year old boy is so guilty, but my 6 and 3 year old little girls are just as bad! I’m like kids, do you really think I won’t find the mess?!?! Ughhhhhh the struggle is real.
