Before we move forward to 2017 and on to exciting things in store for my blog, I am taking a look back at last year and sharing my TOP 10 POSTS of 2016! I am so honored to share and I hope you will check out all of the fabulous bloggers and their top posts at the bottom of this post.
It’s exciting to look back and see what you all loved this past year on StyleHouse Interiors. It also helps me know what things you might want to see more of. I have big plans for my blog this year! I am having a brand new site built the end of January. I am looking forward to a much more functional and stylish website to match my brand. What better way to start off a new year?!

Statement light fixtures that won’t break your budget

One of my most asked questions on social media is “Where is the light fixture from?” I often share work from other designers that inspire me, typically they are spaces that feature designer lighting and furnishings. As a real estate agent I can tell you it will help increase the value of your home to update your lighting, but depending on your market and home value, it may not make sense to spend 5k on one light fixture. In this post I shared how you can achieve the same look without the high cost of designer lighting.

One Room Challenge Reveal I decided to join the One room challenge as a guest participant and update my family room. It was a crazy decision (you’ll find out why when you get to number one) and it made for a stressful 5 weeks of projects and once a week updates on the blog, but I am so happy with the end result. Ten inspiring Modern farmhouses +my favorite labor day sales. A few of my posts with favorite sales made it on to my top ten list, I weeded out one or two and left this one on because you really need to see these farmhouses!

All things shiplap was a post about my obsession with Shiplap! It also includes a segment from Studio5 (our local NBC affiliate) when I was a guest, talking about the shiplap trend. That was fun, but I’m not sure I’m cut out for tv (buries face in hands)!

5 steps to creating a beautiful tree If you are a regular reader then you know I love Christmas! The next three on the list are Christmas posts. I am a self professed “Queen” of Christmas, I recently came across some old video from when I was a teenager and I was directing my mom when she was trying to decorate the Christmas tree. I guess I have always loved to share Christmas decorating tips!

13 things to do before you list your home + my home tour! Remember when I said it was crazy to join the One room Challenge?? Thats because I had recently put our home on the market! I probably should have just pulled the listing because I couldn’t show it while we were doing minor renovations. Then, heading into the holidays I turned away even more showings. At this rate we’ll never sell it, but we are fine with that too! 2017 will determine whether or not we end up moving and building a new home, no matter what I’m sure it’s going to be a great year!
