We have been in our home for five years now. I can hardly believe it, time flies by so fast! Some things have changed (our family room has changed the most). I have done several room makeovers, you can see a few here and here, but I have also largely ignored other spaces altogether. Today I’m going to be talking about how with a little help from Walmart Home, I added a little vintage flair to our Modern Industrial eat in basement kitchen! (*This post is sponsored by Walmart, all opinions are my own)
Our basement started out with a lot of potential, we have a large open family room with a kitchenette just outside of our theater room. When we built our home we had lower cabinets installed and left everything else to finish at a later date. The rest of the room was a blank slate, with large corner windows and two sets of double doors the room gets plenty of natural light but other than that there wasn’t any personality. We slowly added some modern industrial elements with the sliding barn door leading to the theater room and the shiplap wall with industrial shelving. This room has also been a dumping ground for all things extra e.g. foosball table, elliptical machine, excess decor, you name it it ended up down there. The foosball table in particular has been a thorn in my side. We’ve had it for years, it was falling apart and had been used mainly to hold our pool towels (as far as I could tell). I have been looking for ways to make this space more functional AND beautiful! In comes the Lexington round dining table from Walmart.
The vintage chic design balances out the modern industrial vibes in the basement. I paired it with these black dining chairs. I was so impressed with the options Walmart Home has to offer! Everything is priced well and shipped quickly! I’m happy with the chairs I found, check out some of the other beautiful options I found below.
I upgraded our dishes and silverware now that we actually have a space to sit down and eat. I love the black flatware by Better Homes and Gardens! I’m also dying over these mix and match dishes!
You can sit in this spot and be right in the middle of everything, whether it’s watching a movie or playing a game. These chairs are small but sturdy and they are comfortable!
Here’s another angle of the kitchenette wall. The open modern industrial shelves hold extra serving dishes and it’s a great spot for beautiful new place settings I found at Walmart.
I always envisioned this as a space where my kids would hang out with their friends or we would gather as a family. It has only taken me five years to get here, but I finally have a space that I love. Our sectional is old and broken in (to just the right level of comfort), our first generation flat screen TV is on it’s way to becoming a vintage piece 😂just like my collection of vintage cameras! But this room is comfortable and inviting. Just the way it should be! I look forward to much more quality time spent together down here.
I’ve gathered everything you need for your modern industrial dining room with a little vintage flair! Let me know if you have any questions, or drop a comment and tell me what you think, I’d love to hear what your favorite piece is!
XO,
Jen
